Raquel Romar is a Veterinarian who earned her PhD in Physiology of Reproduction at Univ. of Murcia (Spain) in 2011. She was as a post-doc in USA (Knoxville Univ.), Japan (Okayama Univ.), Mexico (UAEM Univ.), Germany (Institute of Farm Animal Genetics) and France (INRA-Tours). She took up a position as Assistant Professor at Univ. of Murcia in 2005 and in 2011 obtained a position as an Associate Professor at the Department of Physiology of this university. Her main areas of research are focused on the mechanisms for controlling polyspermy in mammals, with special interest on the cortical and zona reaction; the use of 3D models to study the molecular mechanisms on gamete interaction; and the use of biofluids to minimize the impact of ART on animal health.
